Plan a Visit

What to expect on a Sunday morning at Pond Springs, so you can relax and enjoy it.

We’re so excited that you’re considering a Sunday morning at Pond Springs!

Every church has their own unique styles, traditions and culture of worship. What ties all believers together, regardless of stylistic differences, is the shared Jesus tradition.

Guests are often best prepared to relax and enjoy their experience if they know a bit about what they might expect at a typical worship gathering.

A typical Sunday worship experience at Pond Springs

  • Casual dress is the norm
  • A space that is warm and inviting
  • A friendly, small-church welcome
  • Call to worship with Scripture reading (shared participation by women and men in our call to worship)
  • Blending of traditional hymns and contemporary music (we alternate between singing a cappella and with light instrumentation, such as guitar)
  • “Offertory” (guests are not expected to make a financial donation, but this is a great time to pass along a Connection Card so that we can learn more about you)
  • “Scripture Reading” / “Praise Prayer” (led by men and women)
  • The Lord’s Table (we practice a weekly Communion/Eucharist that is open to all believers; everyone belongs at the table)
  • King’s Kids (a class available during the sermon to kindergarten and under)
  • A sermon that encourages, inspires, and equips (we cover series through books of the Bible, topical sermons, current events, special seasons, liturgies, etc. The sermon is usually about 25 minutes long and is provided in a casual, approachable style)
  • A pastoral blessing of peace over the gathering to end the service

While this is what you might usually find during our weekly Sunday morning gathering, we leave ourselves open to creativity and change!

Special prayers

Prayer is powerful. And, in Christian history the human touch during prayer is a significant symbolic act. To “lay hands” on someone during a prayer time may seem antiquated to some, overly spiritual to others or even just weird or uncomfortable.

At Pond Springs, when there is a significant need for special prayer, when there is an ordination or a commissioning of a missionary or a plea to God for healing, strength or hope, the Pond Springs family will gather around that person, lay our hands on them and pray. Often we will sing a song afterwards to share our love, to offer our worship to God or to signify our unity before the Lord.

Guests are welcomed to join in with these special times of prayer, but are certainly not forced to and if they feel uncomfortable, we understand and would never try to shame or guilt you into participating. God hears prayers from wherever one might want to offer them and you might feel more comfortable staying seated and praying in that way or just observing the prayer time in quiet reflection. Either way, we pray that you are blessed when you are with us.

Kids

Jesus welcomed the little children with open arms, loving smile and warm heart. Each Sunday during the sermon time, King’s Kids gives kindergarten and under an opportunity to experience the love of Jesus through upbeat kids songs, stories, age appropriate centers and good old fashion play. On Wednesday nights there is an elementary class for the kids and the youth group meets. See Ministries for more.
