Ministries
Life together at Pond Springs, from the youngest to the oldest.
King’s Kids
Jesus welcomed the little children with open arms, a loving smile, and a warm heart. Each Sunday during the sermon, a team of loving adults and youth volunteers gives kindergarten-and-under kids a chance to experience the love of Jesus through upbeat songs, stories, age-appropriate centers, and the best teaching instrument God ever invented for kids: good old-fashioned play.
Youth
God loves young people. God used a young David to lead a stunning victory, championed the teaching of a young Jeremiah, and chose a young Mary to carry and raise Jesus. Pond Springs believes passionately that young people are the church of the present, not just the future. Key spiritual leaders in our family invest significant time in the lives of young men and women, helping them ask and answer the important questions of life.
Our youth have many ongoing opportunities for learning, service, growth, outreach, and fun: Sunday and Wednesday classes, Sunday Night Live, Camp K (campers and big brothers and sisters), retreats and camp-outs, Scripture readings in worship, leading devotionals, serving the Lord’s Supper, serving at a local assisted living community, Leadership Training for Christ (LTC), mission trips, and Wilderness Trek.
Adults
Sunday morning class meets at 9:30 am before worship. Our young adults (20s and 30s) currently meet with the combined adult discussion group in the youth room.
Wednesday nights we gather from 7:00 to 7:15 for announcements and prayer requests, a short devotional and song, and prayer. From 7:20 to 8:00 the adults have a group discussion where all kinds of questions and viewpoints are welcome, while the kids have an elementary class and the youth group meets.
Women spend special small-group time in prayer, study, fellowship, and service each month. Opportunities vary through the year, but there is always a way to connect and serve.
Men and boys gather on the first Sunday night of each month at 6:00 pm to consider character, leadership, values, vision, and godliness.
Sunday nights
We believe it’s vital not to spend so much time “in church” that we lose sight of being a redemptive, relational influence in the world around us. Members are encouraged to invest most Sunday evenings in relationships, renewal, and rest. On the 4th Sunday we share brown-bag dinners and softball at Springwoods Park, and a 5th Sunday brings a singing and special-music night. Check the calendar for the latest.
Game night
Most Saturday nights a group of Pond Springs game enthusiasts gets together for board games, snacks, and a fun evening. You don’t have to be a gaming expert to join in.
Through the year
Family traditions are full of meaning once you hear the stories. Some of ours: a New Year’s gathering, common meals (chili and soup, chicken spaghetti, baked potatoes), a Valentine’s banquet, Leadership Training for Christ, Easter choir and special music, an Easter egg hunt, Spring Fling, a men and boys retreat, a ladies’ retreat, Mother’s Day carnations, a Memorial Day picnic, Graduation Sunday, Summer Fun Day, Camp K and its reunion service, Summer Bash, brown-bag dinners, a grandparents’ breakfast, Fall Fest, Thanksgiving care packages, Christmas caroling, and our Christmas candlelight service with choir.
